THE CLC PLANT USES INTERNATIONALLY UNIQUE TECHNOLOGY FOR TREATING THE MINERAL
The CLC Hydrometallurgical Plant is innovative and one of the most technologically advanced in the world for treating copper. The use of optimized applied process technology maximizes the reutilization of water, energy and material resources.
CLC uses a process known as “Clean Technology” thanks to which the copper produced is ready for sale directly from the plant. The final product is 99.999% pure copper classed as “Grade A”.
Another advantage of the project is its location and mine planning, since the treatment plant is located within the mining facility.
The reactors or leaching tanks, an essential part of processing the ore, have been developed for CLC by the Finnish company, Outotec. This technology enables the copper to be extracted using a hydrometallurgical process that is cleaner than conventional pyrometallurgical processing.
In recognition of this achievement, Outotec was awarded, in Finland, the prize for the Best Quality Innovation for the year 2007.
