Environment CLC approaches environmental management as an inseparable part of its business activity, integrating it into the engineering design of the project and giving precedence whenever possible to preventive rather than corrective measures. The company strives for every activity to entail the minimum possible environmental impact, endeavouring to make mining compatible with the surroundings.
The environmental restoration activities are progressive, and start from the construction phase. For the company, respect for the environment is and will be a constant theme throughout the entire mining operation. The Las Cruces Project is characterized by the following aspects: - Responsible management of natural resources such as water, land and the mineral itself.
- Monitoring and Control Plans undertaken by the company itself, independent external auditors and Government Authorities, covering the protective measures for the environment, hydrogeology and mining safety. These Plans are in place from the preliminary pre-operational phase, before construction begins.
- Economic bonds and guarantees required by the Andalusian Regional Government and the central Administration, which assure the realization of environmental and socio-labour commitments.
